This takes me right back to my very first weekend in Disney.
It was literally the first weekend and me and a bunch of friends, Llauren, Ally and a few others, had been in Custodial Core all day and it just so happened to be the last day for Star Wars Weekends.
So, we finished class, headed back to the housing and managed to get to Hollywood Studios just in time for the Hyperspace Hoopla. It’s this show where a bunch of the Star Wars characters come out and do a dance off. Palpatine raps.
Literally, so soon as the show finished, we started seeing lightening behind the Sorcerer’s Hat. At first we thought it was part of the Hyperspace Hoopla because it was that bright, but we soon realised it was lightening when the seven heavens open on us.
Before hand, we had decided that when the show was finished, we were going to go on Star Tours, seeing as it was Star Wars Weekend and all. Now, it had started throwing it down with rain so it was pretty slippy and, out of seven or eight of us, it was of course me who slipped.
We made it onto Star Tours and ended up riding it twice because the Cast Member who was working let us go again because of the rain. After the second time, we decided that we were English and that we weren’t going to let a little fall of rain bother us. So we decided to walk to the other end of the park to see if Tower of Terror was open. On the we of course started singing and dancing Singing In The Rain in the way that only Cast Members know how.
Against, all odds, and still in this epic thunder storm, the ride was still open so we jumped straight into the queue. Now, those of you that are familiar with ride know that the story goes that lightening stuck the Hollywood Tower Hotel and sent the unfortunate family to The Twilight Zone. At one point in the ride, the ‘elevator’ that you are in stops on the top floor and the shutters fly open. Just for a minute, you can see the entire park. At this exact moment, a flash of lightening flashed just behind the Earful Tower. It was such an amazing moment and made oen of my favourites ride so much.

That’s the ride photo. We are the idiots on the back row. Llauren and Ally are over there on the left, Charlotte and myself in the middle and Dom and Phil on the right.
Such an amazing night.

Llauren, one of the friends I made working at Disney last summer, finally got round to editing all the footage together from her time there.

I feature a little in this so if anyone has any interest in seeing what ICP’s get up to on their days of or if you want to see me epically fail at Drinking Around The World at Epcot, then enjoy :)

“All our dreams can come true, if we have the courage to pursue them.” - Walt Disney

i remember the first time disney started using the castle in their title sequences. i remember getting really excited, knowing that that was THE disney castle (of course, at the time I didn’t realise there was about 5 of them and this one was most likely to be Sleeping Beauty’s castle in Disneyland, which I’ve never seen IRL).

There’s really no denying though, and correct me if i’m wrong, that the final one is Cinderella’s in Walt Disneyworld, a castle which I have seen, as well as worked in front of for a grand total of 6 months out of my life.

Anyway, if you think about it, 89 years, in the grand scope of time, isn’t that long, and yet to see the major leap in design, detail and definition from the first title sequence to the current one, really says a lot about the leaps & bounds The Walt Disney has come along in in such a short space of time, not just in animation features and films, but in everything else they’d done, too.

The traditional castle logo seems like its the Sleeping Beauty castle, but the current is definitely Cinderella’s Castle.

Castle was always my favourite zone in fantasyland. Getting to see that everyday was incredible.

My last day.

So, this is boys and girls. My last day in Orlando, Florida. Those two and a half months have flown by far to quickly for my liking.

Right now I’m just hanging out with Kaitlyn before I have to get the bus to the airport. I have to travel to Atlanta and then Atlanta to Heathrow which will get me back in England at 12:15pm local time.

Those last few days have been really hard. Had to say so many goodbyes to so many amazing friends. The guys and girls in Magic Kingdom custodial east side have become a family to me and I cannot wait to see them all again. So me of them I’ll be friends with for life.

I have loved my time as a Cast Member and I will absolutely be returning as one as soon as possible!

Cultural Representative here I come!
